Brave by Design

You tried something new.
You took a risk and it didn’t go well.
You started chasing your dreams.
People said you would never reach them.
At first they whispered, saying you’d never make it.
You tried to shut them out, to drown out their voices.
But they became louder.
And slowly, you started to believe the lies.

Slowly, fear started to creep into your life. You let it make your life its home. You let it take possession of your passions and your dreams. You let it become a part of you. You let it tell you that you weren’t good enough, that all your efforts would amount to nothing, that your dreams and passions weren’t worth pursuing. You let fear speak to you, and you believed its lies.

But fear isn’t a part of you. Fear isn’t in your DNA. Maybe you let it become a part of you, but fear doesn’t belong in who you are. Fear is an unwanted guest in your life that has stayed for too long. Kick it out of your life, because boldness and bravery were breathed into who you are. Fire and love are locked in your bones. Freedom runs through your veins. You were given a spirit of power, a spirit of bravery, a spirit of love and a sound mind. You weren’t given a spirit of running away. You weren’t given a spirit of fear. You weren’t given of holding back. You weren’t made to fear.

You were born to be free. You were born to live out love. You were made for more. You are brave and bold and lovely by design.

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ESV)
